“We used the generous $2,400 gift from 100 Caring Women of Lake County to partially fund the necessary double luxating patella surgery for sweet Tinkerbell.  After arriving at Orphans of the Storm, it became clear that she struggled to walk, was uncomfortable, and possibly in pain. She saw our partner, Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Miz at Animal Medical Center as soon as possible. She was diagnosed with luxating patellas and needed MPL surgery on both knees. The average cost for this surgery is $1,000-$3,000 per knee. Tinkerbell is now happy in her home, and her family says, ‘She has grown to get comfortable in our household just as she has been growing in our hearts. We strive to make her as comfortable as possible and to make sure all her needs are met. She is curious and cautious, and a giant cuddle bug. We are thankful for the opportunity to adopt such a sweet girl.’”
